ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಥೆ

ರವಿ ತನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನ ಜೊತೆ ಪ್ರವಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದನು. ಮೊದಲಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮರವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದರು. ರವಿ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಹೇಳಿದನು, "ಈ ಮರದ ಎತ್ತರ ಹೆಚ್ಚು." ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ಒಂದು ಜಿರಾಫೆ ಕಂಡಿತು. ಆಗ ಅಣ್ಣ ಹೇಳಿದನು, "ಜಿರಾಫೆಯ ಎತ್ತರ ತುಂಬಾ ಹೆಚ್ಚು."

ನಂತರ ಅವರು ನಗರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು. ರವಿ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಟ್ಟಡವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, "ಈ ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ಎತ್ತರ ದೊಡ್ಡದು." ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಅಣ್ಣ ನಗುತ್ತಾ, "ನನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನ ಎತ್ತರ ಹೆಚ್ಚು." ಎಂದು ರವಿ ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ನಕ್ಕರು.

ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರ ಬೆಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರು. ರವಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು, "ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಎತ್ತರ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಇಷ್ಟ." ಆ ದಿನ ರವಿ ಎತ್ತರ ಎಂಬ ಹೊಸ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪದವನ್ನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಲಿತನು. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದರು.

English Translation

Ravi went on a trip with his elder brother. First, they saw a big tree in the forest. Ravi happily said, "This tree is tall." After walking a little further, they saw a giraffe. His brother said, "The giraffe is very tall."

Later they reached the city. Ravi looked at a tall building and said, "This building is tall." Then Ravi proudly said, "My elder brother is tall," and everyone laughed.

Finally, they visited a beautiful mountain. Ravi said, "Everyone likes the height of the mountain." That day Ravi learned the Kannada word ಎತ್ತರ very well and everyone returned home happily.
