ಒಂದು ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅರುಣ್ ಎಂಬ ಹುಡುಗ ಇದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಮೊದಲಿಗೆ ತುಂಬಾ ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಡುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಅವನ ಅಪ್ಪ ಹೇಳಿದರು, "ಅವನಿಗೆ ಗತ್ತು ಇದೆ." ಆ ಮಾತು ಅರುಣನಿಗೆ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು. ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವಳು ಗತ್ತಿನಿಂದ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದಳು ಎಂದು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಗಳಿದರು. ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅರುಣನಿಗೂ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು. ಅವನು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಮಾಡತೊಡಗಿದನು. ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಹೇಳಿದರು, "ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕೆಲಸ ಗತ್ತು ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ." ನಂತರ ಅರುಣ್ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೆದರದೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಹೇಳಿದರು, "ಗತ್ತಿನಿಂದ ಸತ್ಯ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು." ಕೆಲವು ದಿನಗಳ ನಂತರ ಅವನು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುಮಾನ ಗೆದ್ದನು. ಆಗ ಅವನ ಅಪ್ಪ ನಗುತ್ತಾ ಹೇಳಿದರು, "ಗತ್ತು ಇದ್ದರೆ ಗುರಿ ತಲುಪಬಹುದು." ಅರುಣ್ ತನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಬದುಕಿದನು. ಎಲ್ಲ ಮಕ್ಕಳೂ ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಪಾಠವನ್ನು ಕಲಿತರು.

English Translation
