ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕತ್ತೆ ಇತ್ತು. ಅದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ತುಂಬಾ ಇಷ್ಟವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಕತ್ತೆ ಹುಲ್ಲು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತದೆ. ನಂತರ ಕತ್ತೆ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಂದು ದಿನ ರೈತನು ಹೊಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ರೈತನು ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಜೊತೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಶಾಲೆಯಿಂದ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ಆ ಕತ್ತೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವರು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೈ ಬೀಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಸಿರು ಹುಲ್ಲು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ಜನರು ಆ ಕತ್ತೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಕತ್ತೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಚೀಲಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತು ರೈತನ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಸುಲಭ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕತ್ತೆ ಕೂಡ ಎಲ್ಲರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವಾಗಿ ಬದುಕುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ಜನರು ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಜೀವನ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಸುಂದರವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಕಲಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ನಗುತ್ತಾ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಮುಗಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

English Translation
