ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಥೆ

ರವಿ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯ ಹಿತ್ತಲುದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಆಟ ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಅವನು ಹೇಳಿದನು, "ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿತ್ತಲು ತುಂಬಾ ದೊಡ್ಡದು." ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮರವೂ ಇತ್ತು. ರವಿ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ, "ಹಿತ್ತಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮರ ಇದೆ." ಎಂದು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನಿಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿದನು.

ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತಿನ ನಂತರ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಹಿತ್ತಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಟ ಆಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಓಡಿ ಆಟವಾಡಿ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು. ಅಜ್ಜಿ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ರವಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು, "ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಹಿತ್ತಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂ ಬೆಳೆಸುತ್ತಾರೆ." ಹೂಗಳು ತುಂಬಾ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿದ್ದವು.

ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಗುಬ್ಬಚ್ಚಿಗಳು ಹಾರಿ ಬಂದವು. ರವಿ ನಗುತ್ತಾ ಹೇಳಿದನು, "ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಹಿತ್ತಲಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತವೆ." ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಾಳು ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಆ ದಿನ ರವಿ ಹಿತ್ತಲು ಎಂಬ ಹೊಸ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪದವನ್ನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಲಿತನು.

English Translation

Ravi played in his backyard every day. One day he said, "Our backyard is very big." There was also a big tree there. Ravi happily showed it to his friend and said, "There is a tree in the backyard."

After some time, the children played in the backyard. Everyone had fun. Grandmother was working in the garden. Ravi said, "Grandmother grows flowers in the backyard." The flowers were beautiful.

Soon, some sparrows flew into the backyard. Ravi smiled and said, "Birds come to the backyard." Everyone fed the birds. That day Ravi learned the Kannada word ಹಿತ್ತಲು very well.
